"The Dark Side of the Moon" is a conceptual album, the eighth studio release by the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was released on March 1, 1973, in the United States and on March 24 of the same year in the United Kingdom.

This album was not only a commercial success but also received unanimous critical acclaim. It is considered a milestone in the history of rock and modern music, influencing countless musicians. Its cover, designed by Hipgnosis and George Hardie, is an iconic cultural symbol.

The cover design was inspired by a photograph of a prism dispersing light into colors. Richard Wright requested a design that was smarter, cleaner, and more elegant. The result was the famous prism image, representing three elements: stage lighting, the album's lyrics, and the simplicity Wright sought. This design has been the subject of numerous tributes.
