This strap is a recreation of the one worn by the legendary musician Dr. Brian May alongside his iconic Red Special guitar. Here's the short version of the story behind this replica:

On August 9, 2018, we received an email from our U.S. distributor with the subject line: "Strap Idea". It said: "Hi guys - an interesting idea came up while talking to a U.S. distributor. They noticed that the straps being used in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody don’t look anything like the real strap Brian May used. Could you recreate them?"

Our answer was an emphatic YES.

There isn't much documented history on the original strap, but it became iconic after Queen's Live Aid 1985 performance at Wembley, alongside the Red Special.

The strap in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t accurately recreated, which inspired us to take on the challenge of replicating it based on a few old, low-quality photos.

Forum discussions suggest the original strap was lost, stolen, or disappeared. Some say it might have been a regular belt turned into a guitar strap.

So, we did the same: transformed a belt into a guitar strap. We adapted our RAS system for better adjustment and added holes to attach the guitar.

A fun fact is that Dr. May used electrical tape to keep the “Slide” in place. We replaced the tape with elastic bands, which can be removed or swapped depending on the musician’s preference.

Once we finished the recreation, we sent the prototype to the U.S., where it was presented to Dr. Brian May. When he saw it, he said: “Wow, I haven’t seen this strap in ages!”

This was a huge achievement for us. This year, to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’re offering this replica to fans of Queen, Dr. Brian May, and the Red Special.
